Customer Review: Primary Knife User Not Knife Sharpener

The Hubby and I have an agreement. If he wants good vittles to appear before him on a regular basis, he must make sure my knives are sharp. To that end and because he loves gadgets & food, he owns several whet stones and knife hones that take way too much time for me to use. He bought me this to do quickie honing sessions on my knives that take the most abuse (santoku, paring and slicing knives). It is easy to use and generally does a good job. It is not all that good at taking gouges out of knives. Nor will it help you guys who think that just because those food network people drag their sharp edges across the cutting board to scape things into a pile that you can do it too (Read: it can't help you if you square off your edge). However, if you take reasonable care of your knives and understand proper knife care, this is an awesome tool to have. It is especially helpful for those inbetween knife sharpenings and when you are chopping a lot of food.
Description of MinoSharp Plus Knife Sharpener (Silver & Black) 440-SB
This effective and simple to use sharpener is suitable for all knives except those that are sharpened on one side only. It consists of two ceramic wheels - a white one that's coarse and a pink one that completes the sharpening process. The extra large ceramic wheels sharpen the maximum surface area of the blade at the perfect angle for a longer lasting razor sharp edge. It also operates with the use of water which keeps the ceramic wheels rinsed. Once filled with water, hold the sharpener flat on your countertop, firmly gripping one side to keep it steady. Holding the knife with your other hand, position the blade perpendicular into the groove with the white coarse wheel and move back and forth. Repeat with the pink finishing wheel. No heavy pressure is necessary. After sharpening, hand wash knife in hot water and dry completely. The ceramic sharpening wheels are less abrasive than electric sharpeners.
